Alex is a Researcher at Learning and Work Institute, specialising in quantitative research, econometrics and analysis. He is experienced in conducting analysis using large national datasets and has several years’ experience of policy evaluation.
Alex recently changed careers having previously worked in the City of London as a property underwriter. After completing a master’s degree in economics at City University he began working for Ipsos MORI as a researcher and economist in their Policy and Evaluation team. In that time he has conducted several large scale evaluations for the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills; Innovate UK (formerly the Technology Strategy Board) and the Welsh Government. Most recently Alex managed the third and final year of the Evaluation of Families First – a programme of support and early intervention for families in Wales; focusing on the impact for families and the local service landscape. Alex also contributed to the evaluation of Jobs Growth Wales.
Alex grew up, and was educated, in Wales and is a fluent Welsh speaker. He regularly conducts research with stakeholders and beneficiaries through the medium of Welsh.
